About this place
The Long Market is a wide street posing as a square, closed at one end by the Main Town Hall and at the other by the Green Gate. The facades that look centuries old mostly rose after 1945 — recreated from paintings and surviving details.
Neptune’s Fountain has stood here since 1633 and is the city’s most recognisable landmark. A few dozen metres on begins the Long Embankment with its view of the Crane.
In the evening, when the gables are floodlit, the street looks nothing like it does by day.
