About this place

The Łącka Dune is forty-two metres high and moves inland by several metres a year. Beneath the sand lie the trunks of a forest it defeated a century ago — in places they poke through to the surface.

From the gate at Rąbka it is eight kilometres to the dunes, one way. You can walk, cycle or take an electric cart; cars are not allowed.

The best time is early morning or the hour before sunset, when the sand throws long shadows and the wind carves patterns along the crests.

Good to know

  • Eight kilometres one way — no shade or drinking water on site.
  • The sand gets hot; flip-flops are a bad idea.
  • Climbing the dunes themselves is allowed only on marked paths.
