You cannot drive to Morskie Oko — from Palenica Białczańska it is a walk of about two hours along an asphalt road, or a ride by horse-drawn cart. It is precisely this barrier that makes the first sight of the water impressive despite the crowds.
The lake lies at 1,395 metres, and above it the wall of the Mięguszowiecki Peaks closes the horizon. Walking the shore takes just under an hour and is worth it: from the far side the view is nothing like the one from the hostel.
The heaviest traffic is between 10 and 3. Setting out before dawn or in the late afternoon changes the character of the place entirely.

- Horse carts shorten the walk but stop 20 minutes short of the hostel.
- The Palenica Białczańska car park fills before eight in season.
- Walking around the lake takes under an hour and changes the whole perspective.
