About this place

The dome of the Centennial Hall spans sixty-five metres and was, at the time of its construction, the largest reinforced-concrete structure in the world. Max Berg designed it in 1913, a good two decades ahead of his era.

The interior still serves as an events venue, so access depends on the calendar. The permanent exhibition ‘Discover the Centennial Hall’ is open regardless.

Around it stretches the Pergola with its multimedia fountain, and a few hundred metres on begin the Zoo and the Afrykarium. Set aside half a day for the whole complex.

Good to know

  • On concert days the interior may be closed — check the calendar before you travel.
  • Fountain shows run seasonally, at set times.
  • The building is fully wheelchair accessible.
