About this place
Książ has four hundred rooms and twelve garden terraces stepping down towards the Pełcznica valley. The basic route covers the state rooms of the first floor — including the Maximilian Hall with its Baroque ceiling.
Beneath the castle run tunnels dug during the Second World War. They were never finished, and to this day nobody knows for certain what they were for.
The terraces deserve a separate visit, ideally in May or June. Access to them is included in the basic ticket.
Good to know
- The underground route needs a separate ticket and is not wheelchair accessible.
- The tunnels stay at about 10°C all year — bring a jumper even in summer.
- The castle car park is paid and fills up before noon at weekends.
