Six routes where the Polish autumn looks its best — from the Bieszczady to Kashubia.
Why autumn, not summer
After the first frost most of the insects vanish and mountain visibility improves by tens of kilometres. Add colours that simply do not exist in July.
Bieszczady: mountain meadows without the crowds
The climb to Tarnica from Wołosate takes just under three hours. In October you can have the summit to yourself even at the weekend.
What to pack
A head torch is mandatory — the day ends before five. Add a thermos and a layer that will survive the wind on the ridge.
