About this place
The exhibition walks you through the sixty-three days of the uprising day by day, across three levels of a former tram power station. The rhythm is set by the sound of a beating heart inside a steel monument that runs through every floor.
The most powerful moment is the replica of the sewer the insurgents used to move between districts — narrow, dark and low. The passage takes a minute and says more than any display case.
The film ‘City of Ruins’ shows the destroyed Warsaw from the air, digitally reconstructed from aerial photographs. Screenings run every half hour.
Good to know
- The museum is closed on Mondays.
- A visit realistically takes three hours, not ninety minutes.
- The exhibition is emotionally demanding — with small children, keep it short.
